Travel in France and Ireland
For very many people both mass market holidays and mass produced wine are losing their appeal. For as long as people have travelled both Ireland and France have been destinations of choice for the discerning traveller. More and more people when they travel on holiday wish to meet people who can help them experience the authentic character of their chosen destination. With both wine and travel more people are seeing beyond the slick advertising campaigns.
Irish / French Wine Trade
Our membership is comprised of passionate people from Ireland and France who have chosen to swap location to establish a family business in the wine, travel or holiday sector of their adopted country.
Should you wish to take a break in the South of France you can contact Sharon and Barry a young Irish couple who have started a new life in Villefranche at the foot of the Pyrenees. At Activitie Hollidays France they can look after all your needs from Summer sun to Winter skiing activities. Or spend a few days with Deirdre and Guillaume at their Chambre d'Hote in Lirac, close to Avignon, and learn first hand of the richness of life in this fascinating region.
Family Business
Family businesses have been the mainstay of the economy in both France and Ireland down through the years. This is evidenced nowhere more than in the travel and wine sectors. In Ireland family owned "B & B's" and in France the "Chambre d'Hotel" are synonymous with the indigenous sector of the market. At Irish French Connection we strive to seek out that unique experience where Irish and French flair meet and the results are truly rewarding.
French Wine trade
The Irish connection with the French wine trade is long and well documented ( see History section). Many Irish families have established wine businesses in France - the Winegeese continue to expand ! Other Irish family businesses in France are engaged in the travel and activity holiday sectors. In the other direction increasing numbers of French people have establish family businesses in Ireland primarily selling and distributing quality wines that reflect their terroir , grape variety and climate.
Site Objective
The objective of Irish French Connection is to promote and show-case these family businesses by establishing a forum where helpful guidance, interesting updates and feedback can be provided.
