La Petite Provence - a very busy year - Deirdre.

Hi Brendan,

Hope you are keeping well and once again a very happy new year to you both, lots of good health of course!! Well it’s been an incredible year here, we were full right up until the 31st Dec. and we have had a lot of people from Taiwan! Apparently we are in some guide or web site there so people have been coming out to Lirac, so now I need to translate the web site in Chinese.

La Petite Provence came to light four years ago Guillaume and I had been living in Paris for many years and we both decided that we wanted a better quality of life, so we moved to Provence, Avignon and from day one we fell in love with the region !

Our dream was to open a “chambre et table d’hote" and after many years of searching for the perfect place, we finally signed for the house in December 2002. The house is set in Lirac in the heart of the Rhone valley in the Languedoc Roussillon region. the location is ideal for tourists as its only 15 minutes away from Avignon and the TGV station (high speed train) , which offers services to Paris in just under 3 hours and Marseille international airport is 1 hour away and offers direct flights to Dublin or Nimes airport which is 25 minutes away and offers flights to Ireland via England .

Avignon which is famous for the Popes palace is the largest gothic palace in the world. Discover the Roman sites such as "le Pont du Gard" or the arenas in Nimes and Arles, the beautiful natural park in the Luberon or the Ardeche river, the Camargue national park and Mediterranean sea are only 1 hour away. Visit the beautiful villages such as saint Remy de Provence or Uzes and experience the wonderful markets loaded with local and seasonal produce.
The amazing landscapes inspired many famous painters such as van Gogh, Cezanne and Monet, a personal favourite of mine are the poppy fields in bloom in the month of may, magnifique!!
Our guest house is situated on the "route des vins” between the famous Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel, among many others.
La Petite Provence has been open for almost two years now and has been welcoming guest from all over the world, its wonderful being able to share our passion and love of the area with other people and a great way to make new friends!! Oh and I almost forgot - the sun shines 300 days of the year here!!!

Hope to see you soon - Deirdre
